Pixi makeup fixing mist review

Oh, Pixi how I love you … until now

See update at the bottom.

One day I was checking out what was new in Target’s beauty section when I noticed Pixi Makeup fixing mist with rose water & green tea.  I am a sucker for face mists.  I have them scattered all over the house and my desk at work.  Rose water/scented are my favorite.  How had I not seen this before!!!

It was one of the first things I tried when I got home.  That says something because I came home with a mighty haul that day.  It smells fantastic.  If you are at all adverse to scented products then stay away from this.  It is strongly scented.  I love that about it.  The scent fades after a reasonable amount of time.  Once in a while I catch a whiff of it as I turn my head.  It might not fade so much as nose blindness sets in.

Don’t get it, girl!

The spritz on this is just not good enough to call it a makeup fixing or setting mist.  The bottle unpredictably sprays, big water droplets come out.  You never know if it will hit and mess up some killer fancy smokey eye shadow you just painstakenly applied or if it will harmlessly hit a spot on the forehead.  It’s great if you love gambling.  The mist is no where close to fine.  Use it before putting on the makeup.  Use it to wet your beauty blender even.  Probably can find use in the winter in cold weather climates where dryness is an issue.  Which is about to be my life for the next 6 months.  It is cheaper than the Smashbox primer water spray.  But with good reason.

If you have another bottle you can dump the contents into then maybe you can save it.  But why?  There are so many better products on the market.  As a fixing/setting spray, no.  As a nice bit of aroma therapy, maybe.

Update (Jan 31st, 2017):

I didn’t use it for maybe 2 weeks.  I was out of town for a bit, busy, had other mists I was using.  I gave this Pixi mist a shake and shot myself in the face.  Literally shot in the face.  It was like a squirt gun.  It was horrible.  Thankfully I had zero makeup on.  I tried squirting it a few more times but no luck.  You can unscrew the top so I ran some hot water and sent a bunch of hot water through the spray part.  No joy.  Apparently now I have a wonderful smelling squirt gun ….
